Use a little Zen and Find Some Zesty Love

Did you ever consider that Zen and Romance are quite similar, or have you even considered Zen at all.

For those who don’t know what Zen is, I’ll turn to Wikipedia,

“Zen is a form of Buddhism practiced in China and Japan and is a fusion of Mahayana Buddhism and Taoism.[1][2] It places great importance on moment-by-moment awareness and ‘seeing deeply into the nature of things’ by direct experience.”

So, zen is about feeling happiness in the moment, and Romance is about feeling joy, happiness and love in being with someone no matter what you are doing together.

There are those that don’t believe that Zen can help romance – or that Zen needs to help romance. Some – in fact, perhaps most – just think romance happens. Someone special happens along out of the blue, or perhaps by fate, and there’s no need to help the romance along.

That attitude focuses on the early stages of a romance, and, in fact, often thinks about romance as something that only happens in the early stages of a loving relationship. Those who think that often find themselves wondering why their romance doesn’t flourish through the years of their relationship. Zen can help turn this attitude towards romance around.

The best way to let Zen help you find romance is to start with the people around you, no matter what their relationship to you. Think about how you close them out and how you push them away. Do you answer their questions with evasions? Do you rebuff their friendly invitations for coffee, lunch or a movie? Do you act aloof and refuse to share your history, your desires, and your life in general?

Zen can teach you how to open up to them. Once you practice this with a few people in your life you may find that Zen has helped you find romance as well.

If you open up your hearts and your minds to others, they’ll start to open up theirs to you. You may find a romance where you least expected it, through the help of Zen.

Go for the Gusto and live every moment like it is your last!
